Originally timid and untrusting of most people, Kuroo had broken out of his shell with the help of his mentor, Iwaizumi Hajime. He is now nothing like he was as a child--quite the opposite.
Often described as provocative, Kuroo has a way with his words that can easily arouse a reaction out of someone. He's cunning and intelligent, always seeming to be a step or two ahead. Though he's never shy about dishing out snide remarks to friends or foes, Kuroo isn't someone who will intentionally hurt the people he care about.
Due to his disability, Kuroo learned to rely on his eyes more, making him extremely observant and intuitive.

Kuroo's father was the right-hand man of a well known Yakuza family. His father met his mother and they got married when she was only the age of 22. She gave birth to Kuroo at age 23 but two years later, his father died in a mysterious accident. His mother, now left to raise Kuroo all alone decided that it would be best to put Kuroo under the care of the Yakuza family that his father had been a part of and dropped him off at the estate when Kuroo was only 4.
Unfortunately, with their ties with the Russian mafia going to the gutters, the Yakuza Oyabun made the decision to sell Kuroo (and a couple of other kidnapped children) to an underground human trafficking ring. Kuroo, only 10 at the time, fell into the hands of an Italian mafioso with a preference for young, asian boys. Kuroo endured two years of abuse and trauma before he was found by Iwaizumi Hajime of Devil's Den. The young mafioso extended a hand out to Kuroo that Kuroo clung onto like his life line.
He trained hard under Iwaizumi's supervision, becoming one of Devil's Den's best marksman and assassin until he was given a promotion to become a handyman who now passes on his knowledge to new recruits in training.
